Background:

Prof. Uriel Simonsohn is Associate Professor of Middle Eastern History at the University of Haifa and Director of the Haifa Laboratory for Religious Studies and the Frieze Center for Shared Society. An internationally recognized scholar of interreligious relations, law, and communal boundaries in the Middle East, his research explores how religious communities navigate diversity, authority, and conflict across history. Alongside his academic work, he  now leads long-term, practice-oriented initiatives in Israel’s mixed cities, bringing together faith leaders, and civic actors to build trust, cohesion, and institutional resilience in divided societies.
