There are three services on Shabbat:
Kabbalat Shabbat, every Friday night, at candle lighting for shabbat – times change according to the season. In the summer, Fri night services are earlier. This consists of the weekday afternoon service and the service to welcome in Shabbat. Sometimes, in the winter months, we have chicken soup after the Friday night service.
Shabbat morning, the service usually starts at 9:15 am and will often conclude around 11:45am. Visitors are welcome to stay for the kiddush (light refreshments) following the service.
Often the kiddush is sponsored and we are grateful to everyone who contributes to a kiddush. Be in touch if you are planning a shabbat simcha celebration or would like to sponsor a kiddush for any other reason.
Shabbat afternoon, about an hour and a quarter before Shabbat goes out is Mincha (afternoon service).
In the winter shabbat mincha is after the kiddush. In the summer there is usually a shiur (discussion) with the Rabbi or seuda shlishit (a light meal). This is followed by maariv (evening service) and havdala.
Be in touch if you are planning a shabbat simcha or would like to sponsor a seuda shlishit.
Services on yomim tovim, for example Sukkot or Pesach, will follow a similar pattern, with evening and morning services. The Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur schedule will be shared with members of the shul via email.
Weekday services are on Sunday mornings at 8.15 am followed by a bagel breakfast; Monday and Thursday mornings at 7am. There are also morning services during Chol Hamoed Succot and Pesach, during Chanukah, on Rosh Chodesh and fast days.
