Year 8 Programme 2026-27

We have received incredibly positive feedback on these programmes for Year 8 and hope that the cohort will make the most of what’s on offer and continue strong friendships with each other.

Below is an outline of what we hope your children will partake in:

1. MHS Bnei Mitzvah Learning Programme

RClub is the perfect place for our Year 8s to unwind and socialise with their friends over pizza. Run by our wonderful Youth Leaders, Mazzy and Aden, and overseen by our new Youth Director (soon to be recruited), this is a primarily a fun social club that sometimes includes light, informal educational content, and always pizza. The kids love it.

4. Community Chesed (Kindness) Opportunities

We have opportunities for our young people to engage in acts of chesed. Our first project will be in the beginning of September, delivering honey cakes to housebound members for Rosh Hashanah. This programme will be administered through RClub and the whats app group below, so please sign up to both if you would like to be involved!

5. Young Wardens Programme (Ages 11+)

For those interested in learning one of the vital leadership roles in our community, we are launching a new Young Wardens Programme. This is a hands-on experience where participants work alongside our Shul Wardens on Shabbat mornings. A commitment of at least 12 Shabbat mornings over a set period is required. If your child is interested in knowing more, please email me directly at tracey@muswellhillsynagogue.org.uk.

6. GCSE

We are pleased to be offering an opportunity for your children to take an early GCSE Religious Studies (AQA) course. This is a fantastic chance for your child to gain an additional qualification in a supportive and engaging environment. Our small and supportive group (with year 9s) will learn techniques for essay writing, mastering exams, critical thinking all while gaining valuable Jewish knowledge.

If you and your child would like to receive more information about GCSE please sign up here Muswell Hill Synagogue – Year 8-9 GCSE 2026/27 Sign Up – Fill in form.

7. Join our Whats App Group for Year 8 parents (current year7s)

Stay up to date with everything going on for this year group message Tracey to be added to the group.

The programme that we have developed for year 8s means that you will need to choose if your child attends the Bnai Mitzvah class or starts GCSE, it is not possible to do both as they will run at the same time. It’s also too much for one child to do all three on a Wednesday evening.

We are so excited for the year ahead and hope your children will join us. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all or want to talk through the options.
