We want to share what we have thought through for our incoming Year 7s. We have received incredibly positive feedback on these programmes and hope that the cohort will make the most of what’s on offer and develop strong friendships with each other.
Below is an outline of what we hope your kids will partake in:
1. MHS Bnei Mitzvah Learning Programme
This is our core weekly internal programme, expertly run by Rabbi Zack Ford. It provides an invaluable space for learning and growth during this significant year. We have seen last year’s group form fantastic bonds and deepen their connection to Judaism.
When: Wednesdays, 6.00pm-7.00pm (during term time) Date and time TBC
For: All Year 7 children
Cost: £650 for members – £710 for non-members

2. RClub – Social Club
Immediately following the Bnei Mitzvah class, RClub is the perfect place for our Year 7s to unwind and socialise with their friends over pizza. Run by our wonderful Youth Leaders Aden / Mazzy, and overseen by our soon to be recruited Youth Director (i will oversee until this post is filled) this is a primarily a fun social club that sometimes includes informal light education content and always pizza! The kids love it.
When: Wednesdays, 7-8pm (time TBC)
For: All Year 7s
Cost: £8.50 for members per session / £10 for non-members per session

3. The Zone
We are delighted to once again offer The Zone, a fantastic initiative run in partnership with 12 other United Synagogue communities. This is an event-based programme on Sunday mornings, offering unique experiences at various North London locations. Please note that booking for this is for the entire five-event series.

4. Community Chesed (Kindness) Opportunities
We have opportunities for our young people to engage in acts of chesed. Our first project will be in the beginning of September, delivering honey cakes to housebound members for Rosh Hashanah. This programme will be administered through RClub, so please sign up to RClub if you would like to be involved!
5. Young Wardens Programme (Ages 11-12)
For those interested in learning one of the vital leadership roles in our community, we love our new Young Wardens Programme. This is a hands-on experience where participants work alongside our Shul Wardens on Shabbat mornings. A commitment of at least 12 Shabbat mornings over a set period is required.
